THE WORLD'S MOST ORIGINAL BURGERS
SWAG has been inspired by two burger-crazy Frenchmen by the name of Quentin Weisbuch and Thomas Weil, founders of Fat and Furious Burgers, to bring together a list of some of the world's craziest and most original burgers. Check out our list below, then take a look at the French duo's cookbook (that seems more like an art book) that's packed with 60 crazy burger recipes, or should we say, creations.
The Double Donut Burger (Hungry Horse, London)
Every fat kids' dream, the Double Donut Burger combines beefy goodness with two grilled, glazed doughnuts. Because why the hell not?
Le Burger Extravagant (Serendipity 3, New York)
This is what a €260 ($295) burger looks like. It's made of Japanese Wagyu beef, sprinkled with smoked Pacific sea salt, enhanced with 18-month old cheddar cheese, shaved black truffles, white-truffle butter, a quail egg, topped with caviar and enclosed in a white-truffle-buttered bun. This is all fine and dandy, but at the end of the day it's going to come out and be money down the drain...
Turducken Burger (Smokin' Betty, Philadelphia)
Turducken is a combination of three words: turkey, duck and chicken. It's also a combination of the same three meats, with the addition of stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce. It's like American Thanksgiving rolled into one artery-clogging burger.
Grilled Cheese Sandwich Burger
Grilled cheese sandwiches are basically cheese toasties, but imagine two of these toasties instead of a sesame bun for a burger. Cheesy, crispy goodness!
The Nut Burger (Montana, USA)
This nutty burger was created at Matt's Place in Butte (!), Montana, USA. The combination of nuts and mayo give a crunch with every bite of this burger. Mmm, crunchy nuts...
Ice Cream Cheeseburger (Florida)
This is a carnival food staple in some parts of Florida, USA. It's a bacon cheeseburger that contains a special addition - cornflake-battered, deep fried ice cream!
The Ramen Burger (Ramen Burger, New York/Los Angeles)
The Ramen Burger was created by Keizo Shimamoto, who shared a love for Ramen noodles and beef burgers. So, he reasoned, why not combine the two?
These burgers are the stuff of dreams, aren’t they? As a last tribute to this world of meaty goodness, here’s a look at one of these glorious creations that is on the other side of the spectrum – the dark side.
Space food doesn’t sound very appetising, and the particular Space burger below is made of beef, tomato paste, awful looking cheese paste and a tortilla, not burger bun. As far as ‘space cheeseburgers’ go, this one looks as tasty as a rubber boot with mayonnaise on it. Hey NASA, take some inspiration from the Fat and Furious Burger lads next time you’re planning space meals!
