MODEL CITIZEN: DIANA MOCNAJA
In our latest Model Citizen feature, SWAG caught up with Diana Mocnaja. Diana is 25 and was born in Riga, Latvia. She relocated to Malta with the company she was working for at the time. Diana’s modelling career resulted in her travelling all over the world. She’s also set up her own swimwear company, DF Swimwear, which she designs herself.
When I finished high school my modeling career was quite active, so I decided to take a break from schooling for two years. During these two years I was traveling around Europe, working with model agencies in Milan, Sardinia, taking part in photo and video shoots in Austria and Egypt, and also participating in beauty pageants, visiting different cities of Turkey, beautiful Sardinia and even Syria.
Life brought me to Turkey and I decided to stop modeling. I entered a distance education program in one of the Latvian Institutes and started my Business Administration studying.
While I was in Turkey I became one of two founders for new project at that time. Organising the very first Miss Exclusive of the World international beauty contest, with 40 models from all over the world. It was a success and we continued with that.
I should say I absolutely adore Angelina Jolie and everything she does! In my opinion that's how a real woman should be! She is a queen with the amazing soul.
I guess my best achievements are the beauty contests that I've won before. One of them was Best Model Contest in Sardinia.
At the moment I’m working on my own project. I started designing swimwear and created the brand DF Swimwear. We are organising interesting photoshoots with my friends, models and photographers. We had a shoot on the yacht with Gallery of Vallery, Margo Photography and a shoot with surfing boards with Fritz Photography Malta and Margo Photography. It was so much fun and the models loved my swimwear. Soon my swimwear will be available at Chante Boutique in Sliema.
Apart from this I was invited to participate in an upcoming international beauty contest Miss Model of the World in China.
I’ve got a one funny story for you from when I was in Egypt. We were filming a touristic video close to the pyramids and I had to act with the camel. I tried to kiss the camel but he definitely didn't like it! Everyone was laughing, but thank god I moved away in time.
When it comes to my future projects, I’m aiming to take my current project, DF Swimwear, which I'm very passionate about, to the next level. In the near future I'm moving to Cancun in Mexico, where my goal is to open stores in Acapulco and Cancun.
My ideal man is one who is ready to turn the world upside down for me. He needs to be my rock, my protector, someone that can make me feel happy and secure.
My ideal date would be an amazing warm evening at the sandy beach somewhere in the Caribbean, with lots of candles or even a fireplace, a contemporary canopy sofa and a small table with snacks and champagne.
