SWAG had a chat with Marcella Busuttil, who you might know from local television. We talked about her media career, as well as her upcoming mini-documentary programme, L-Arkivji on NET television starting in July.

Marcella Busuttil is 26 and from Hal Safi. She’s a Maltese producer and TV presenter. The peak of her career was winning of the competition Wicc Gdid on the programme Malta Llejla, presented by Stephanie Spiteri back in 2010 on NET television.

In 2007 she was part of the Chatroom TV programme, and later she was a model on X’Hadd Maghna on One TV and presented her first programme on Favourite Channel (now F Living) Kawza Bonarja in 2012. In 2011 she graduated from the University of Malta and obtained a B.A degree in Maltese and Linguistics. This degree helped her to work in Media on part time basis.

This summer on NET Television, together with JMedia productions, Marcella is going to present a mini-documentary L-Arkivji, aired every Saturday at 5:20 PM, before 6pm news. She’s doing all the research regarding the programme, and her aim is to give this series of programmes about Malta’s archives a fresh look regarding cultural and educational programmes.

Marcella commented, “L-Arkivji is actually me as a character. Who knows me personally connects me through cultural, language and historical interest. I also have a passion for Media, so this programme combines the two aspects I love most.”

Marcella’s love for the Media started very long ago.

“When I was young I used to watch TV and I always said that someday when I grow up I would be there like the people I watched. I think I was born loving life in the Media. I don’t know how it actually started, since none of my family members are part of it. My ambition and determination lead me to do it. Winning the Wicc Gdid competition on Malta Llejla was the cherry on the cake and it really encouraged me to do something.”

Marcella would like to thank all the people who helped her become who she is today.

“A big thank you goes to Josef Azzopardi for making L-Arkivji possible, and who developed the whole idea perfectly.”
