SWAG had the pleasure to get to know Miss Malta 2015 contestant Rhiannon Bartell, a beautiful, goal-driven 22-year old who was born in Australia to a Maltese father and Australian mother. A lover of fashion, food, family and karate, Rhiannon is looking to make an impact on the local modelling scene.

Rhiannon was more than willing to share her family's history with SWAG. It goes a little something like this...

Her nannu Harry had travelled to Australia with the boat migrants in the 1960s, and having lost his wife a couple of years earlier, he took with him his seven younger children and began a new life in Perth, Western Australia.

The family still lives in close vicinity to each other and maintain close family relations. They have continued to observe Maltese cultures and traditions, so Rhiannon has always felt drawn to her roots. In fact, one of her goals is to learn Maltese whilst she’s here, as well as travel through Europe.

On graduating in Accounts and Finance, Rhiannon decided it was time obtain her Maltese citizenship and come back to her father’s homeland.

Rhiannon loves all things about Malta and feels very much at home here.

She's new to the modelling and fashion world and she’s thrilled to be taking part as Miss St. Julian’s in Miss Malta 2015, which has also opened up doors to promotion work and further modelling jobs which are in the pipeline. She coins her best achievements as graduating from University with an Accounts and Finance degree, and becoming a National Karate Champion in Australia. She gained the title of Western Australia Karate Champion and Australian National Karate Champion in Kumite.

SWAG likes to keep things fun, so when asked about any funny or embarrassing moments, Rhiannon had this to say: “Yes – my first ever photo shoot was the Miss Malta official shoot, and I thought it would only take two hours. I was there all day and had not taken any food or drink, and when it was finally my turn I was so anxious and hungry, I was sure I was going to pass out with all the bright lights and flashes!”

When it comes to men and the dating world, Rhiannon’s an old fashioned sort of girl who likes to be swept off her feet. She would like the guy to come up with something romantic and that to her would be pizza and movie or a picnic on the beach – as long as it’s an opportunity to get to know each other, anything is perfect. However, a private jet to Paris for breakfast would be nice!
