10 SLIMMING TIPS THAT WOMEN HAVE KNOW FOR YEARS

Tags:   Health,   Weightloss,   Tips

By The Swag Team   -  January 19, 2015

It's nearly three weeks since the festive period orgy of overinduldgence, and most of us probably fall into two camps at the moment: those whose January detox and exercise regime has started to work, and those who haven't managed to get it off the ground. If you belong to the second group, and feel you really need to shift a few kilos, SWAG is here to help by sharing 10 basic ideas to get you started losing weight stolen from the gender that considers itself an expert on the subject.

1 – Find a photo of yourself looking like slim boy and stick it on the fridge – it’ll remind you how you’ll look when you’ve lost that excess weight.

2 – Give in to your cravings once in a while; a little of what you fancy will help you stick to your diet.

3 – Be more active: as well as burning calories, exercise helps to improve your shape and makes you feel good about yourself. Find an activity that suits your lifestyle and keep at it. It could be something as simple as walking... but do it!

4 – Don’t try to lose all your excess weight in one go – it took months to put on and will take just as long to come off. Set yourself mini-targets, like half a stone at time, then give yourself a gift – not an edible one – when you’ve achieved it.

5 – If you hit a rough patch, think about the amount of weight you’ve already lost rather than the amount you’ve still got to shift. Fill carrier bags with books, newspapers or cans equivalent to the weight you’ve shed, then carry them up and down the stairs a few times as a reminder: that’s the extra weight you were hefting before your diet.

6 – Don’t think of losing weight as a temporary thing: find a way to eat healthily that you can stick with for the rest of your life.

7 – Watch the booze intake, that stuff’s packed with calories. If you’re going on a heavy night out, offer to drive – it’ll make it easier to stick to non-alcoholic drinks throughout the evening.

8 – If you have a blow-out, don’t give up your diet. Write the indulgence off and start again the next day.

9 – As well as weighing yourself, measure yourself from time to time – even if you haven’t lost many pounds, you might have got rid of some inches round your waist.

10 – Don’t worry that you’re a drag to be around if you insist on sticking to your diet – if you feel good about yourself, your family and friends will benefit too.
