SCHOOL CHEMISTRY EXPERIMENT GOES HORRIBLY WRONG
A school chemistry teacher in Egypt has become a laughing stock after a video of him messing up an experiment and causing an explosion became a worldwide internet hit.
Practical and experiment class is one part of the chemistry curriculum pupils around the world look forward to... at that early teen age, messing around with things that sizzle, smoke or cause bangs is one of the perks of compulsory education. Few are the people who studied chemistry at school who don't have a tale or two or stealing a bit of potassium or magnesium and popping it in one of the sinks "just to see what happens...""
But, in this case, it was the teacher who caused the spectacular scene, and we are lucky that one of the pupils happened to be filming the event on a mobile phone at the time.
The teacher - named as Ahmed Gabr, 38, - was supposed to be showing the class how to produce a mild reaction by producing oxyhydrogen, or bang gas as it is also known.
But in a lesson the kids won't forhget in a hurry, he apparently bungled the quantities and sent children screaming from the classroom when the tumbler he was using exploded, showering the room with sparks, flying glass and boiling chemicals.
Some of the terrified youngsters can be heard praying as they fight to get out of the classroom while others shout out in distress. Angry parents flooded the school with complaints as their children came home with chemical splattered clothing.
Fortunately there were no reports of injuries, making it morally safe for SWAG readers to laugh as they play and replay the clip.
