HOGGY AND HIS BOYS BEAT THE MIGHTY PANATHINAIKOS
After a fine performance for Malta against Croatia last week, where he made several important saves, Malta's no. 1 keeper Andrew Hogg helped to inspire his team mates at Greek First Division side Kalloni to a 1-0 victory over one of the giants of Greek football, Panathinaikos, yesterday.
The second most famous Greek team (after Olympiakos) piled on the pressure in the second half, as you can see in the highlights below, but the former Valletta star and his defenders held firm to secure an important victory that sees their team rise to third place with seven points - two less than leaders Veria FC. That's quite a feat for a team that isn't even based on the mainland - Kalloni is the team from the wonderfully named island of Lesbos.
Seems like we're soon going to have to update our interview with the goalie as he's steadily building up a new collection of stories to tell...
