THE DAY A MALTESE PLAYER BEAT THE BEST KEEPER IN THE WORLD
Check out this fine goal Malta striker Andre Schembri had scored against Schalke 04 when Manuel Neuer, who was voted the best goalkeeper at the World Cup on Sunday, was their number one.
The date was 27 January 2009 and Schembri's third division team Carl Zeiss Jena were playing Schalke 04 in the German cup competition. They finished up 4-1 losers, but not before our man hit a magnificent first timer placing the ball just out of Neuer's reach.
2009 was also the year the German star started his international career. He moved to Bayern Munich two years later.
Schembri went on to play in the Cypriot first division, and this season will return to Germany to play for second division side FSV Franfurt. Check out some of his other fine moments here.
